Vietnam appeals court reduces jail term of French-Vietnamese dissident by half

HANOI, Vietnam — An appeals court in southern Vietnam has reduced by more than half the sentence against a French-Vietnamese math professor convicted of belonging to a banned pro-democracy group and publishing an anti-communist blog, his lawyer said Tuesday.

Huge Vietnamese Catholic church to be dedicated in Arlington

Grandeur counts when building a Vietnamese church, especially when the current place of worship is a converted Food Lion grocery store.
"A church's size and quality is basically the best of everything the people can offer to God," said Khiet Nguyen, whose architectural firm designed the 2,000-seat Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church in east Arlington. "A Food Lion church is not good enough. We hope this is good enough."

Viacom International Media Networks, a division of Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), and UTV, a subsidiary of BHD Media, Vietnam's leading entertainment media production company, today announced the launch of a dedicated MTV service for Vietnam.
